3D MODELLING – Virtual sculpture and design at the Secondary school of sculpture art & stonemasonry in Hořice

3D sochařství

The 3D modelling workstation can offer the sculptor or designer to model complex structures directly in space.

This is done through the touch arm, which can induce the power of resistance of virtual matter (e.g. clay) to the controlling hand. The SW menu offers a very wide range of generated semi-finished product, tools and their sizes and other options that exceed the possibilities of real materials and means of their shaping. Another option is to “edit” the object scanned by the scanner. This option has the potential to fundamentally change the possibilities for restoration work in the assembly of fragments of severely damaged works (from multiple parts), reconstruction of missing parts, reconstruction of a 3D object from 2D objects (e.g. photographs). The content of the work thus integrates purely technical activity and artistic activity. For a more complete picture, a 3D object can be animated on this workstation with the colour and texture of any material on the surface of the work. The SW calculates the centre of gravity and surface sizes for other possible technological procedures (object manipulation, gilding, etc.).

Another option is the measurement of objects with high precision for special purposes (e.g. detection of counterfeits, correction of material loss, shrinkage, cracking, etc.). The standard part of the SW is the possibility of smoothing shapes, creating a voxel model, dividing and joining surfaces, etc. For technical purposes, options are open for the production and accuracy control of moulds for die casting, analysis of deformation surfaces and space, control of surface roughness, etc.

The output is polygonal data that can be processed for the needs of carving the part at any scale on the robotic arm. The fundamental difference from the creation of higher programming languages is the unrestrictedness of mathematical curves and surfaces and their combinations. SW accepts arbitrary interventions into the compact mass without correction in the form of interpolation and extrapolation fields.
