Sweeping and vacuuming of dry soling, as well as wiping of wet soiling with a wet cloth are the most basic and easy ways of the maintenance of natural stone, which is very easy thanks to natural impregnation. You can also use sponge, water and a bit of soap or regular detergent. You get rid of regular smears easily this way. But you must avoid all abrasives and also the anti-scale detergents.

Special detergents can also be used that are meant directly for the cleaning of natural stone. Some of them even help you get rid of larger staining and clean the stone deeply. Other detergents are meant for cleaning of old impregnation and vax. Some are meant for the first cleaning of newly installed surfaces, cleaning of old dirt, but also for the cleaning of smears from rubber soles of shoes. Some of these detergents can even polish stone, especially, obviously, cladding and paving, but even kitchen countertops made of stone. There are even removers of concrete crusts, sealants and scale. Some of those are suitable for indoor use and outdoor use, some are more specialized.

Impregnation of natural stone and surface protection

Especially the absorption of liquids (stone is quite porous, although it does not have to look like that at first sight) and subsequent penetration of other impurities with it can be unpleasant. Especially, the penetration of grease and chemicals can be regrettable. It can cause unwanted colouring of damaged areas of stone that might be impossible to get rid of. Some chemicals can even damage the structure of stone. Therefore, impregnation is absolutely necessary. Modern impregnation agents for stone create a safety layer that will in no way change the colour of the stone, but it will protect it from later staining and colouring in an unwanted way. Only dry and clean surface of stone should be impregnated.

Apart from stone impregnators for natural look of stone, which are matte and provide effective protection against any stains, there are also natural highlighters of the tints of stone. They accentuate natural colours, character, and the look with matte surface treatment. They work well even when moist, for example in bathrooms and around swimming pools.

You can also buy impregnators for polished stone surfaces. This colourless impregnation protects the surfaces of polished marble, granite, sandstone, or also slate. Stone kitchen countertops in fitted kitchens, polished cladding, and paving made of stone are the ideal solution. These impregnators protect against water, grease, oil, and dirt. You can also find acrylic vax in catalogues of manufacturers. It provides self-glossing satin coating that requires minimal maintenance. Vax highlights the colour and structure of stone, it protects against staining and persistent dirt. It is much easier to maintain stone after applying vax.
