When a new stone appears on the market, it draws a lot of attention, especially when the market is Polish. This new stone was quite unexpectedly introduced at the autumn stone fair in Pozna\u0144.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new stone on the market is dolomite from a deposit in \u017belatow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deposit is located in the south-east part of Chrzan\u00f3w in the Lesser Voivodeship about 6 km from the Chrzan\u00f3w exit on the A4 motorway from Katowice to Krak\u00f3w. The dolomite has a very attractive colour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deposit is not a completely new site \u2013 different types of stone are quarried there. The new stone represents an addition to the decorative stones on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The history of the deposit dates back to 1918 when Pogorzyce Quarry was founded in the place of former Paulina Quarry and Mortimer Quarry, which ceased operation in 1913. In 1923, Stanis\u0142aw Burtan from Krak\u00f3w, an investor in ceramics and refractory market, founded a processing plat Dolomit sp. z oo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After World War II, the company Kopalnia i Pra\u017calnia Dolomitu \u017belatowa was founded, which continued to quarry and process Triassic ore-bearing dolomite. In 2010 the Ministry of Finance decided to privatize the quarry. The majority share was bought by a private investor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The majority shareholder is currently planning to modernize the quarry and purchase modern technologies, including the latest mobile stone crushers and sorting machines, with the aim to increase the production efficiency and stone quality, and to variegate the production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fact that the company has presented the dolomite in the construction market indicates that they are looking for new production and business opportunities. Since the \u017belatow dolomite attracted a lot of attention at the stone fair, we can expect that the company will continue to expand the production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are several colour versions of the \u017belatow dolomite, all of which are available for purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the marketing director Ireneusz Saletra, the management sees the potential of the \u017belatow dolomite as a decorative stone. It is therefore only a matter of time before the stone is offered on the mainstream market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Porosity \u2013 6.64%<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Absorbency \u2013 2.73%<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crushing strength \u2013 140.0 MPa<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flexural strength \u2013 14.3 MPa<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abrasion resistance \u2013 4.00 mm<\/p>\n\n\n\n
