{"id":1652,"date":"2020-06-14T12:54:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-14T10:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.svetkamene.eu\/?p=1652"},"modified":"2021-02-09T00:27:34","modified_gmt":"2021-02-08T23:27:34","slug":"stonemasonry-in-the-ricany-region-part-7-b-malsin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/svetkamene.eu\/index.php\/en\/2020\/06\/14\/stonemasonry-in-the-ricany-region-part-7-b-malsin\/","title":{"rendered":"Stonemasonry in the \u0158\u00ed\u010dany Region &#8211; Alda\u0161\u00edn, Part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\nMany tombstones are made of the \u0158\u00ed\u010dany granite,\nsome of the Vahlovice granite (amphibol-biotitic Blatno granodiorite\nfrom Central Bohemian Plutonic Complex), or dark veiny rocks \u2013 the\n\u0160lukonv \u201csyenite\u201d (dolerite), the Pohorsko \u201csyenite\u201d\n(diorite porphyry), Pecerady gabbro, or various kinds of foreign\ndiorites and gabbros. Stonemasons often classified (and still\nclassify) rocks under the so-called business names, which often do\nnot correspond with the proper name of the rock in a&nbsp;true\npetrographic sense. They called all light intrusive rocks granites,\nwhilst dark veiny rocks and various types of diorites, gabbros,\nporphyries, etc. were called \u201csyenites\u201d. The Hendrich and\nBorovi\u010dka family gravestone is made of dark rock, presumably foreign\npolished gabbro or diorite. Next to the ledger there is a&nbsp;life-size\nstatue of a&nbsp;girl made of white (presumably Lass) marble signed CERV\n1944. The author of the statue is sculptor and woodcarver Jan \u010cerv\n(1905\u20132002), who made many sculptures, reliefs and commemorative\nplaques in Prague and Pilsen. Opposite the grave there is a&nbsp;diorite\ngravestone (made for the S\u00e1zavsk\u00fd family). Rather than the stone of\nthe grave we notice its bronze sculpture made by sculptor Bla\u017eena\nBorovi\u010dkov\u00e1-Podp\u011brov\u00e1 (1894\u20131980), one of the first students at\nthe sculpture and stonemasonry school in Ho\u0159ice, who cooperated with\nher husband and stonemason in \u010c\u00e1slav Karel Borovi\u010dka. It is\ntherefore possible that Karel Borovi\u010dka (1893\u20131969) buried in the\naforementioned grave of the Hendrich and Borovi\u010dka family with\n\u010cerv\u2019s statue was Borovi\u010dkov\u00e1-Podp\u011brov\u00e1\u2019s husband.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/beta.svetkamene.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/stela_z_vepicke_zuly_na_hrobe-2-768x1024.png\" alt=\"A stele made of Vepice granite on documentarist J. \u0160p\u00e1ta\u2019s grave made by sculptor Z. A&nbsp;homestead with a&nbsp;recessed rectangular ground plan, probably a&nbsp;farm yard, and about 10 more houses around a&nbsp;rectangular square were uncovered near the Church of St. Ji\u0159\u00ed in 2006.
