{"id":1639,"date":"2020-06-13T01:43:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-12T23:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.svetkamene.eu\/?p=1639"},"modified":"2021-02-09T00:27:15","modified_gmt":"2021-02-08T23:27:15","slug":"stonemasonry-in-the-ricany-region-part-7-a-malsin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/svetkamene.eu\/index.php\/en\/2020\/06\/13\/stonemasonry-in-the-ricany-region-part-7-a-malsin\/","title":{"rendered":"Stonemasonry in the \u0158\u00ed\u010dany Region &#8211; Alda\u0161\u00edn, Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\nEast of Jevany in the middle of the woods there\nused to be a&nbsp;village, originally a&nbsp;pastoral settlement Alda\u0161\u00edn.\nThere are two hypotheses explaining the name of the village. The\nfirst says that the village got its name after its founder Uda\u0161\n(Udajsi), the second speculates that the name is a&nbsp;compound of two\nGerman words Wald (wood) and Asche (ash) \u2013 according to the flat\ngraves found in the old settlement. In 1729 a&nbsp;new church was built in\nthe village in the place of the old one. It was dedicated to St. Ji\u0159\u00ed\nand financed by the owner of the estate Kostelec nad \u010cern\u00fdmi lesy\nMaria Theresia of Liechtenstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nGeologists and stone lovers will admire the local\ncemetery, undoubtedly one of the most picturesque in the Czech\nRepublic \u2013 if we can say that about a&nbsp;cemetery. Although this is a\ngranite region, the gravestones are made of various types of rocks.\nOld sandstone gravestones from the 19th and 20th century can be found\nclose to the church building. The sandstone is either fine-grained\nand beige, or arkose reddish permocarbon, probably from the vicinity\nof \u010cesk\u00fd Brod. Sandstones were easily shaped into works of art so\npopular at that time. On documentarist and cameraman Jan \u0160p\u00e1ta\u2019s (1932\u20132006) grave is a&nbsp;stele made by sculptor and painter Zdenek H\u016fla of porphyric Vepice granite (from amphibo-biotitic melagranite to \u010certovo b\u0159emeno silica syenite). Composer Karel Svoboda\u2019s (1938\u20132007) gravestone is made of a&nbsp;pink rectified granite of foreign origin.
