Zimnik is quite hard compared to other granites from the Strzegom area. <\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Its processing is slightly more difficult. It accepts any type of surface finish. Due to its hardness and fine-grained structure, it is possible to obtain a polish on it which is not common on other granites. After flaming it becomes almost white.<\/p>\n

Like any granite it does not require impregnation. It has low absorption, although due to its colour it is sometimes used as an additional protection with plates that come into contact with staining substances. Building surfaces do not generally get extra treatment.<\/p>\n

Despite its hardness, it is a graceful material for carving, especially fine-grained. This feature makes it malleable and predictable under the tool, its hardness allows for the rendering of details, and its light colour gives a nice play of chiaroscuro on the finished sculptures. Zimnik was used to make, among others, the Monument to the Victims of Volhynia in Warsaw, the statue of John Paul II in \u015awiebodzice, the monument to the Guardian Angel of unborn children in the parish of St. Anthony in Toru\u0144 (the angel made from a 20-ton block), the monument to Jan Himilsbach in Strzegom.<\/p>\n

Extraction and processing is carried out on an ongoing basis. The size of the blocks is matched to the orders. Blocks are extracted from the excavation so that the size is close to the required format or its multiples. This approach minimises the amount of waste. Without special preparation, the quarry can deliver blocks of up to 30 tons, while the processing plant can cut pieces with maximum dimensions of 180 x 330 cm. About 4,000 to 5,000 square metres of granite are processed every month.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Zimnik is available in every product and semi-finished range. The Tinarg company has a modern fleet of machinery for cutting, processing and finishing stone components – from saws and gangsaws to advanced multi-axis CNC machines. Available resources of Zimnik are estimated at 60 million tons – there is no risk of a lack of continuity of supply for multi-year contracts or even those carried out in stages on very stretched deadlines. The repeatability of colour allows for orders to continue even after a break of several years.<\/p>\n
